Firetail joins 1% for the Planet

I am delighted to announce that Firetail has joined 1% for the Planet, the global network of businesses and environmental organisations committed to supporting people and planet. 

Members of 1% for the Planet pledge to donate at least 1% of their annual revenue to environmental non-profits and related causes.

Alongside becoming a B Corp earlier this year, we have joined 1% for the Planet to formalise our commitment to social and environmental impact.

“Let my people go surfing” by Patagonia founder Yvon Choinard was an important and inspiring book when I was first setting up Firetail. At the heart of the book was the argument that it is possible to run a business according to its values, that can be a good place to work, and should try to make a difference. 

We have always tried to run the business this way, but as Firetail matures we are being more explicit about building them into the fabric of the business, and holding ourselves more accountable to those standards.
