Payroll Giving ‘celebrates’ £1.2bn over 25 years

The Association of Payroll Giving Organisations delivered a giant card to Downing Street this week, celebrating raising £1.2bn over the last 25 years. According to HMRC, last year £114m was given to charity through payrolls. In a sector where total voluntary income is estimated to be in the order of £8-£10bn, these are not big numbers. The reality is that for most charities, payroll giving hasn’t worked. Relative to other methods, it’s been neither simple nor successful. New technology and new ways of engagement are surely the answer. Any charity that can crack this will open up a whole new way of giving. READ MORE
